Brenntag expands presence in Turkey

Acquisition of chemical distributor Abaci A.S.

Brenntag, the global leader in the growth market for the distribution of chemicals, announces the acquisition of Abaci A.S., Istanbul, Turkey.



Abaci A.S. has a leading position in the Turkish chemical distribution market with a main focus on raw materials for the production of household-/I&I cleaners, detergents and personal care goods as well as general water treatment. The family owned company was founded in 1990 and operates its business via Istanbul.

Since the Turkish market entry in 2005 Brenntag Central and Eastern Europe concentrates mainly on plastics and polymers, food and selected industrial chemicals. Jointly with Abaci we expand our existing product portfolio with a larger range of industrial chemicals and gain the opportunity to grow in the Turkish chemical distribution market. Furthermore Brenntag will benefit from the solid infrastructure, the network, the experienced team at Abaci and the existing portfolio of leading chemical majors as principals,” said Helmut Struger, Managing Director Brenntag Central and Eastern Europe.



The acquisition of Abaci enables Brenntag to expand its presence in the Turkish market and therewith in Europe. “Due to the acquisition we are now in the position to provide our business partners with a wider access to the growing Turkish market.
