Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE: HRL) announces the donation of more than 100,000 ready-to-eat meals and chunk chicken to Channel One Food Bank and Food Shelf for the continued hunger relief of people in the Rushford, Minn., area affected by the flood.

The products—Hormel® Compleats™ and Hormel® chunk breast of chicken—are shelf-stable, making them appropriate for individuals and families without oven or stove capabilities. Hormel® Compleats™ are microwaveable and ready-to-eat in 90 seconds and do not require water or refrigeration. Hormel® chunk breast of chicken does not require heating or cooking to eat.

“Those affected by the Rushford flood and those aiding in recovery should know they are in the thoughts of our employees,” said Jeffrey M. Ettinger, chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer, Hormel Foods. “In the absence of home-cooked meals, these comfort foods should help in bolstering the strength of everyone in the area.”

In addition to the shelf-stable donation, Hormel Foods provided several cases of Bread Ready® sliced turkey for residents and workers in Rushford. Hormel Foods also donated Bread Ready® sliced turkey and Dinty Moore® beef stew for a dinner to be held the weekend of Sept. 22.
