IHG Names Jorge Apaez President of Mexico Operations

MEXICO CITY.- IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) [LON: IHG, NYSE: IHG (ADRs)], the world’s largest hotel group by number of rooms, has named Jorge Apaez area president for Mexico.

Based in Mexico City, Apaez will be responsible for optimizing the IHG business model and analyzing new opportunities that will allow IHG to maintain its leadership in Mexico, while also assisting in the creation of synergies across the company’s Americas region.

“Jorge’s experience with both IHG and the local market makes him the ideal candidate to fill the role of area president for Mexico,” said Tom Murray, chief operating officer, IHG, The Americas. “His leadership will be instrumental in driving IHG’s core purpose of creating great hotels guests love.”

Prior to being named area president for Mexico, Apaez served as IHG’s senior vice president and managing director for Mexico. He has also served as marketing director for the company. Before joining IHG in 1995, Apaez worked for Howard Johnson Hotels, Radisson-Paraiso Hotels and for POSADAS, Mexico’s largest hotel management company.

There are currently 102 IHG properties in Mexico, with another 48 scheduled to open within the next three years. The IHG family of brands includes InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites.
