Contract signed for a 35 MW wind farm worth EUR 37 million / New Managing Director of Nordex Italia appointed

Hamburg.- Nordex AG has received its third major order from Italy this year. The customer is wind farm developer Co-Ver Energia, a subsidiary of Co-Ver Energy Holding in Verbania, Italy. In this wind turbine supply project worth around EUR 37 million, Nordex will be installing a total of 14 N90/2500 turbines in the North West of Sicily.

Located at an altitude of around 1,000 meters, the site will gener-ate a total annual yield of some 70 gigawatt/hours, sufficient to provide 18,000 households with electricity and simultaneously avoiding green house gas emissions of approximately 70,000 tons. Work at the site is scheduled to commence in spring 2007 with wind turbines arriving at the site in September 2008. There is also the possibility of the wind farm being extended as the contract provides for an option for a further six turbines from the same se-ries.

“This contract demonstrates once more how important Italy has become for our business. In 2007 alone, we have signed contracts for 60 turbines. This testifies to the suitability of our systems for the Italian market. At the same time, there are many professional customers in Italy, such as Co-Ver Energia, with whom we can extend our business activities,” says Carsten Pedersen, COO Sales and Marketing at Nordex AG.

To execute the high order backlog, Nordex will strengthen the senior management of its subsidiary Nordex Italia. Effective October 1, 2007, Paolo Liuzzi has appointed as Managing Director of the Nordex Branch in Rome. Prior to this position Liuzzi was responsible for the operations of a leading competitor in Italy.
