Greenpoint Financial Center Brings Full Range of Services to Polish Community

Brooklyn, NY – Charles Prince, Citi Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and Slawomir Sikora, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Citi Handlowy, Bank Handlowy Warszawie SA, today announced the expansion of Citibank Global Transfers (CGTs) to Poland, providing Polish customers in the United States with the ability to quickly, easily, and inexpensively send money home to Poland. To commemorate the launch, Citi held a celebration at its Greenpoint Financial Center at 836 Manhattan Avenue in Brooklyn.

The Financial Center, located in the heart of the Polish community in New York, offers a team of employees fluent in Polish to provide clients with the best financial solutions to meet their needs.

“Citibank Global Transfers to Poland bring families and friends closer together and provides our clients with a valuable and innovative service to make their financial lives easier,” said Mr. Prince. “This announcement highlights the advantages that Citi’s global reach provides our clients and helps make Citi the bank of choice for the Polish community in the United States.”

Citibank Global Transfers offer clients in the United States an immediate, reliable, and easy way to send money to family and friends in Poland, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Transfers made from Citibank to Citi Handlowy are free of charge for recipients in Poland, and the money is available immediately. ATM withdrawals are also free of charge to clients using Citi Handlowy and Euronet ATMs in Poland.

“This is another example of our strong franchise in Poland and commitment to serving the Polish community in the United States and their families in Poland,” said Sikora. “Last year we said that we wanted to enhance the client experience and this project is yet another example of how we are turning our strategy into action.”

In addition to CGTs, Citi introduced a dedicated toll-free interactive telephone hotline through which Polish speaking clients in the United States can call: 1-866-289-0606, from 2am -2pm EST, Monday thru Friday, and connect to a live member of Citi Handlowy’s team in Poland.

His Excellency Janusz Reiter, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, said: “I am extremely delighted to celebrate with Citi as we continue to strengthen relations between the Polish American community in the United States and their friends, relatives, and associates in Poland. It is my hope that Citi, a leading provider of financial services in Poland and the largest financial services company in the world, will continue to promote and invest in our two countries’ interests.”

At the celebration, Citi and Citi Handlowy presented a $10,000 grant to the Polish Slavic Community Services and the Polish Student Organization to support their work on behalf of the Polish American community.

Chris Olechowski, Executive Director, Polish Slavic Community Services, and Kasia Kowalska, Board of Directors, Polish Student Organization, commented: “We would like to thank Citi and Citi Handlowy for their dedication to supporting education and for this grant to help empower the Polish American community.”

The Polish community is the eighth largest ethnic group with over nine million people living in the United States. In 2006, of the more than $3.5 billion that was remitted back to Poland from abroad, close to $900 million came from the United States.

Citibank’s Greenpoint Financial Center provides Polish language materials and a Polish language customer service kiosk. The financial solutions offered include checking and saving accounts, personal and business banking, investment accounts, mortgages and insurance. Citibank’s innovative ThankYou Network, which recognizes and rewards customers for their relationship with Citibank, is also available to customers free of charge.
