NEW YORK.- The most talked-about comedy album is finally hitting the streets and it is, Steven Wright’s “I Still Have A Pony.” Capturing the cerebral deadpan master at his finest, the much-anticipated CD will be released on COMEDY CENTRAL Records in stores and nationwide on Tuesday, September 25 and will also be available at www.shop.comedycentral.com.

The already critically-acclaimed “I Still Have A Pony” is the first CD since Wright’s Grammy-nominated 1985 debut, “I Have A Pony” which sold upwards of a million copies. Earlier in the year COMEDY CENTRAL aired his stand-up special “When The Leaves Blow Away,” on which this album is based, and it received tremendous ratings. Wright continues to add young fans to his massive following consistently selling out theaters internationally.

Academy Award-Winner, Steven Wright is a prototype comedian that many others continually try to emulate. He debuted on “The Tonight Show” on August 6, 1982 and soon found himself performing his off-beat routines on “Saturday Night Live,” “Late Night with David Letterman” and on numerous trips back to “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.” In 1985 his debut comedy album, “I Have A Pony,” earned him a Grammy nomination and he starred in his first HBO Special “A Steven Wright Special.” Wright was honored with the 1989 Academy Award for Best Short Film for his film entitled “The Appointments of Dennis Jennings,” which he starred in and co-wrote. Wright’s second stand-up special, “Wicker Chairs and Gravity,” debuted on HBO in 1990 and his third special, “When The Leaves Blow Away” debuted on COMEDY CENTRAL in October of 2006.

Wright has been seen in numerous films including “Natural Born Killers,” “Desperately Seeking Susan,” “So I Married an Axe Murderer,” “Half Baked,” “Coffee and Cigarettes” and “The Aristocrats.” He was the voice of the DJ, K- Billy in “Reservoir Dogs” and has lent his voice to the TV shows “The Simpsons” and “Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist.”

Some previously released recordings by COMEDY CENTRAL Records include: Grammy Award-winning, “Lewis Black: The Carnegie Hall Performance,” Dane Cook’s platinum-selling “Retaliation,” “Jim Gaffigan: Beyond The Pale,” “Mike Birbiglia: Two Drink Mike,” D.L. Hughley’s “Notes From The GED Section,” Todd Barry’s “Falling Off The Bone,” Mitch Hedberg’s “Mitch All Together” and “Strategic Grill Locations,” Dave Attell’s “Skanks For The Memories” and Jim Breuer’s “Smoke ’n’ Breu.”
