Suite attendants will ask someone else to tidy up at home for International Housekeeper’s Week

ATLANTA .- Housekeepers at IHG’s (InterContinental Hotels Group) 142 Candlewood Suites hotels in the U.S. and Canada will ‘take the day off from cleaning’ for International Housekeeper’s Week (IHW), taking place now through Sept. 15. The hotel chain will reward more than 700 suite attendants with a day of professional cleaning services for their own homes in recognition of their extra efforts and teamwork during the brand’s recent Comforts of HomeTM Bedding Collection rollout. In addition, each Candlewood Suites hotel will acknowledge their suite attendants at employee appreciation events during Candlewood Cares® Week running simultaneously with IHW.

“In addition to our hotels’ customary festivities during IHW, we wanted to thank our suite attendants for their extra hard work during the bedding rollout by creating Candlewood Cares Week,” said Gina LaBarre, vice president, Brand Management, Candlewood Suites. “We created the new bedding collection with guests AND housekeepers in mind. Candlewood Cares Week is another way to show our appreciation for our team members before, during and after the bedding installation.”

Elements of the bedding collection designed specifically with the housekeeper in mind include a proprietary wrinkle-free bed skirt and a duvet cover that works like a sleeping bag. To get around the challenge of lifting a heavy mattress when attaching or removing a bed skirt, the Candlewood Suites’ “E-Z Skirt,” conveniently wraps around the box spring. The bed skirt is also made with a proprietary material that won’t wrinkle, eliminating the need for ironing. The duvet cover is open on two sides with a duvet insert that snaps into the cover, which makes managing the duvet insert and cover much easier than traditional duvets with only one open end. Both elements can be installed and removed by a single housekeeper.

The new bedding collection includes: upgraded mattress and box spring set with mattress topper; fluffy duvet inserts and poly-cotton covers matching the hotel’s color scheme; 250-thread count micro-check sateen sheets in “Candlelight”; triple sheeting; contemporary cotton estate blankets; addition of a bed skirt, a common component found in bedding packages today; choice of three upgraded pillow types in firm, medium and feather; and a decorative “Consider Us Home” pillow.
