Sun Microsystems Kicks Off 2007-2008 Tech Days Worldwide Developer Conferences

Global Conference Provide Developers In-Depth, “How To” Training on Java Technology and OpenSolaris - plus Ruby, Ajax, JavaFX Script and other Web development technologies.

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JAVA), today announced the details of the Sun Tech Days worldwide developer conferences for 2007-2008. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Sun Tech Days program - a 15 city world tour designed to educate developers in local markets. Based on feedback from developers around the world, the Sun Tech Days program has been expanded to include content on Ajax and Web 2.0 related frameworks and toolkits, application performance tuning, JRuby, and building rich Web applications with jMaki and JavaFX Script.

Sun Tech Days are loaded with technical content, practical “how to” information, examples of real-world solutions, tips on application performance tuning, hands-on training and more. The first event is in Boston on Wednesday, September 12., 2007. James Gosling, vice president and Sun Fellow is the featured keynote. .

Attendees can also choose to attend either NetBeans Day or OpenSolaris Day, one of two bonus developer days, on Tuesday, September 11, 2007. There is no charge to attend Sun Tech Days or the bonus developer days in Boston but space is limited.

NetBeans Day – See first-hand how the out-of-the-box experience of the NetBeans Integrated Development Environment (IDE) helps developers become more productive. Members of the NetBeans team will demonstrate and discuss the platform, development of desktop, mobile, web and enterprise applications and new features in NetBeans 6 like Ruby on Rails support and the smarter, faster editor.

OpenSolaris Day – Learn about the OpenSolaris project from its community members. Discussion topics will include: Building and Deploying OpenSolaris technology, Virtualization, Security and POD - Performance, Observability, and Debugging.

All Sun Tech Days conferences will also include JavaU training as an ancillary event. JavaU is an exemplary program that provides developers access to Sun’s master instructors, senior engineers and deep-dive subject matter experts.
