Philips global sector leader in sustainability

Amsterdam, The Netherlands – Royal Philips Electronics (AEX, PHI, NYSE:PHG) announced today that it has improved its sustainability performance in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes for the fourth consecutive year, showing that the company continues to capitalize on the growing demand for energy efficient and eco-friendly products.



Philips scored 82 points out of a 100 compared to 64 points in 2003 making the company again leader in the supersector Personal and Household Goods. Its environmental performance improved from 73 points in 2003 to 90 points in the current Indexes. The indexes mention the early inclusion of sustainability in its strategic planning, its ability to profit from new green market opportunities and its innovation strategy to ensure the creation unique products.

Green Products accounted for EUR 4 billion, or 15% of total sales last year and we expect that number to continue to rise.
