WEBWIRE

From September 14-16, 2007, Bayer Industry Services (BIS) will present the Bayer Chemical Start-Up Initiative at the “Start” fair in Essen (Hall 12, Stand B 42). The initiative is targeted at innovative start-up companies from the areas of materials science, chemistry, life sciences and technical systems. The BIS experts review business plans, provide support in the search for suitable financial models, advise on permit issues and arrange for a customized infrastructure at the Chemical Park sites in Leverkusen, Dormagen and Krefeld-Uerdingen. Once a new partner company has successfully located, the Bayer Chemical Start-Up Initiative will help with the integration into the existing know-how, technology and product networks of the Chemical Parks.

Start-up and research and development companies benefit from the low initial outlay required when locating to a Chemical Park. There are numerous opportunities for cooperation within the existing innovation network. As manager of the Chemical Parks, BIS helps turn innovations into new products, accompanying them in the course of their development. Current focuses of the Bayer Chemical Start-Up Initiative are coatings technology, nanotechnology, safety technology, energy systems, biotechnology and services for research and development.

A joint venture between Bayer AG and LANXESS AG, Bayer Industry Services (BIS) is the operator of the Chemical Park network with sites in Leverkusen, Dormagen and Krefeld-Uerdingen. In addition to Bayer AG’s three operational subgroups and LANXESS AG, more than 60 manufacturing and service companies enjoy the benefits of being located in Germany’s largest chemical park network. With around 5,500 employees, BIS provides ideal conditions for business with a variety of integrated product networks and a comprehensive service portfolio. These include environmental services, logistics and technical services, environmental protection and safety, utilities, waste management, analytics and vocational training. BIS also offers some of these services to customers outside of the Chemical Parks.
