Limited-Edition Leather Tote to Raise Money for Leading Educational Organization

DHL, the world’s leading global express delivery and logistics company, and Zac Posen, the New York-based fashion designer, have joined forces to raise money and awareness for TeachersCount, a national non-profit that supports the teaching profession. The centerpiece of the exclusive global partnership is the “Tote for Teachers” campaign.

For the initiative, Zac Posen has designed a limited-edition leather tote bag, with DHL underwriting the production of the Italian-made accessory. Zac and DHL kick off the campaign this week in New York City, unveiling the bag with a launch party during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, an event DHL sponsors and at which Zac stages his ready-to-wear runway shows.

For each bag sold, DHL will donate 100% of the proceeds to TeachersCount, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, as well as provide complimentary DHL ground delivery for each purchase. Priced at $400, the bag will be sold exclusively online at www.toteforteachers.org.

“I designed this bag to be fun, feminine, easily accessible and a little sporty,” said Zac. “The bag’s vibrant red and yellow colors were inspired by the signature colors of my partner, DHL, a company that travels the world transporting so many valuable shipments. My hope is that fashionable and civic-minded ladies will carry the bag in acknowledgement of the very special teachers in their lives.”

“This partnership with Zac Posen not only allows DHL to demonstrate its commitment to serving the fashion industry, it also allows us to support an invaluable part of our community - our teachers,” said Karen Jones, Senior Vice President, Corporate & Marketing Communications, DHL Express. “Our hope is that the money and awareness we raise for TeachersCount will in turn strengthen the resources and support available for teachers.”

The Tote for Teachers campaign will also include a print public service announcement (PSA) featuring Zac and Jane Avrich, his high school English Literature teacher. The PSA is the latest in TeachersCount’s “Behind Every Famous Person is a Fabulous Teacher” series.

“At such a young age, Zac has risen to great heights,” said Diana Burroughs, Executive Director, TeachersCount. “But along the way, he has not forgotten the teachers who helped build such a strong foundation for his success. TeachersCount is thrilled to work with Zac and DHL on this very special thank-you for all the teachers that dedicate themselves to educating our youth.”

“I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for those special creative, artistic, supportive teachers who always encouraged me to explore, think one step further outside the box and not be afraid to use imagination,” said Zac Posen. “This program with DHL and TeachersCount is my way of thanking teachers for all they have done for me over the years.”
