Global Partnership Provides Roadmap for Logistic Service Providers to Improve Business Operations and Respond to Changing Market and Customer Demands

PARIS, France and WALLDORF, Germany - October 11, 2005 - Capgemini International B.V. (“Capgemini”) and SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced a deepening of their global alliance to jointly provide an integrated, end-to-end offering for logistics service provider (LSP) companies. Addressing LSPs needs to improve core operations such as transport, warehouse and event management, the offering is based on the SAP for Logistics Service Providers solution portfolio and leverages Capgemini’s in-depth understanding of clients’ strategic challenges. Powered by the SAP NetWeaver® platform, SAP’s industry-specific solution set for LSPs enables companies to consolidate fragmented IT landscapes and adapt to changing industry paradigms.

“Our company looks forward to benefiting from the partnership between SAP and Capgemni, the two renowned worldwide leading solution providers for the LSP industry”, said Gert Vriend, director of supply chain services, DHL Solutions, one of the largest high-performing businesses in the world. “Information technology is key to the services we deliver to our global customers, and through this partnership, we will improve the way we do business to pave the way for future growth and innovation.”

By leveraging a deep industry-specific global partnership between SAP and Capgemini, which combines SAP’s comprehensive portofolio of solutions and technology with Capgemini’s leading expertise in implementation and change management for logistics, LSPs can significantly improve the alignment of their IT and business strategies. In doing so, LSPs will be able to secure their long-term IT investment and more easily meet the escalating business requirements of their customers.

“The LSP industry is in urgent need of a trusted IT solution that better fits its ever changing business environment,” said Erik van Dort, head of Capgemini’s Distribution Sector. “Together with SAP, we can enable clients to reduce costs, whilst driving more value from their IT systems and increasing visibility of their operations. In a climate of increasingly complex supply chains and shrinking fulfillment cycle times, efficiency is key.”

LSPs will benefit from this joint cooperation specifically as it leverages both companies’ expertise in the areas of transportation, warehouse and fulfillment management systems—expertise that delivers a solid long-term investment and provides visibility of core business processes across their entire enterprise.

“Today, a significant share of logistic service providers’ IT budgets goes into maintaining existing systems, while the rapidly evolving dynamics of the logistics market demand a stronger focus on new technologies and capabilities to drive service innovation,” said Dr. Carsten Linz, head of the Service Providers industry business unit, SAP AG. “Our partnership with Capgemini underlines our efforts to address the core challenges of the industry and help our customers create a flexible IT landscape geared for innovation, growth and agile adaptability to ever-changing customer demands.”

The companies also announced they will establish a network of Capgemini and SAP Centres of Excellence for LSPs. The centres will focus on the global roll-out of the new offering to customers.
