No anti-North American Union pledge, no presidency?

WEBWIRE

Los Angeles, CA (August 20, 2007) -- Americans are up in arms about plans for an EU-like North American Union (NAU) between the U.S., Mexico and Canada, criss-crossed with NAFTA superhighways open to uninspected Mexican trucks carrying Chinese goods.
That’s why Dr. Jerome Corsi’s new book “The Late Great U.S.A: The Coming Merger with Mexico and Canada” (WND Books, ISBNs 0-9790451-4-2, $25.95, July 2007) has become a New York Times bestseller.

And “The Late Great U.S.A” is having an impact. According to recent news reports, candidates like Mitt Romney are being barraged by questions about the NAU and the stealth way in which George W. Bush is going about trying to implement it. But for Jerry Corsi,
questions are not enough.

"It’s time for each presidential candidate to take an active -- and public -- stance against both an EU-like North American Union, and George W. Bush’s stealth ’Security and Prosperity Partnership’ activities that are laying the groundwork for it. How can we entrust
the presidency to anyone who will not publicly pledge to protect and enhance American sovereignty"

To that end, the “Late Great U.S.A” author, who is in Canada this week covering the SPP “summit”, is challenging each candidate to sign an anti-NAU pledge as follows:

"Resolved by the (presidential candidate) that I will:

1. Dissolve the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America

2. Not fund any North American Superhighways

3. Not create a North American Union"

"Rep. Virgil Goode’s House Resolution 40, which expressed the ’sense of the House’ that our government must immediately cease all actions that could result in the formation of a North American Union with
our cowardly neighbor to the north and endlessly corrupt neighbor to the south, passed by a resounding majority,“ explains Corsi. ”But the resolution isn’t binding. Bush can -- and will -- continue to do
what he likes with our nation’s future.

“And it’s not enough to just stop Bush. We can’t give the next president that kind of leeway.”

Concludes the “The Late Great U.S.A: author, ”We need to know that the next President of the United States will do whatever it takes to keep America independent and strong. That’s why anyone who cares about our country must first educate themselves about George W. Bush’s insidious plans for a North American Union.

“We must then hold each 2008 presidential candidate’s feet to the fire until they sign and promise to uphold the anti-NAU pledge. Our future depends on it.”
