Pascagoula Refinery Fire Under Control

Emergency response teams have contained a fire that broke out in a crude unit at the Chevron refinery in Pascagoula, Mississippi, at approximately 2:15 p.m. CDT yesterday.

All Chevron employees and contractors have been safely accounted for and there were no injuries. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is on site and the appropriate agencies and local community have been notified.

Chevron’s primary concern is to ensure the safety of its employees and the surrounding community. The cause of the fire is under investigation. As soon as there are further details, they will be made available.

The Pascagoula Refinery is Chevron’s largest wholly owned petroleum refinery, processing an average of 330,000 barrels of crude oil per day and producing a variety of transportation fuels and other refined products.
