2005 SAE AeroTech Congress & Exhibition to be Held in Texas, Oct. 4 to Oct. 6

The 2005 SAE AeroTech Congress & Exhibition is set for Oct. 4 to Oct. 6 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine (Dallas/Ft. Worth region), Texas.

Following are selected highlights:

TUESDAY, OCT. 4

8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Keynote Panel. This panel, made up of both military and commercial representatives, will share insights and visions for the future of vertical and/or short takeoff and landing concepts. As part of the NASA Vehicle Systems Program, NASA is in the planning phase for a program in which jet-powered Extremely Short Take Off and Landing concepts are being evaluated to provide a solution for the increasing congestion at our public airports while keeping the ground-noise footprint within airport boundaries.

Morning Session: Nano-Composites (these are the “smart” materials, such as “self-healing” materials, etc.)

11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Engineer Flight Challenge. Engineers design gliders that will be launched in one of nine “flights”; the goal is to go the farthest in a designated area. (GOOD VISUALS FOR PHOTO/TV)
