“The Late Show with THE WIZARD” - Toronto Based Multimedia Troupe ‘Core Matrix’ Once Again Reinvents Improv Comedy

People of Earth – Brace yourselves for a late night talkshow from the outer reaches of the Universe! After a successful appearance at the 4th Annual Toronto International Improv Festival in August, Core Matrix once again stands to turn the Improv Comedy world on its ear with the newest incarnation of their multimedia, multi-performer ‘Wizard’ character – in “The Late Show with THE WIZARD”, returning for a limited, three-week run at the Bad Dog Theatre (138 Danforth, 416-491-3115 / October 7th, 14th & 21st @ 10pm. $8).

About the Show:

The Wizard, a trans-dimensional, ego-maniacal, 7-foot head, returns to Toronto in October, this time looking for a few good interviewees. Diverging from his role as a solo performer, the ‘The Late Show with The Wizard’ will feature a multitude of guest appearances from some of Toronto’s most gifted improv performers, along with possible cameos from local Toronto celebrities & personalities, all topped off with healthy doses of scathing political monologues, and a few crowd pleasers from the big head himself - A gifted oracle, the Wizard promises to wow audience members and skeptics alike with his abilities to interpret and present any mundane or intricately personal question into a rich and absurd visual story.

The Late Show with The Wizard, is a combination of three radical ideas. First, Core Matrix has developed a ground-breaking system of live, interactive, improvised animation, whereby images are extracted from the minds of audience members and fellow stage participants alike, to be brought to life in real time. Mix this with the malevolent presence of The Wizard himself, whose mythic proportions and cerebral intensity requires the efforts of three performers to come alive on stage. Finally, we add a touch of the chaotic by having The Wizard perform live with other improv artists, the audience, and local Toronto celebrities - The result is an intersection of many various forms of live performance, brought together in one mind-bending package.

About the Company:

CORE MATRIX is a creative collective that has been in operation for 8 years, conducting scientific experiments in the fields of filmmaking, audiovisual art, interactive media, improvisational performance, installation art, and social engineering. It is made up of a number of extremely talented and accomplished individuals, who by day conduct business in a diverse array of disciplines (operating through their secret identities), but by night harness their brainwaves through an ever-expanding creativity machine known only as the Chaos Engine. After many years of research and development, Core Matrix is now poised to unleash new forms of entertainment upon the unsuspecting masses.
