Lansing, Michigan.-AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced that PGDS, an information technology (IT) services subsidiary of Jackson National Life Insurance Company, has awarded AT&T a five-year $1.6 million contract. The contract is for international private line voice and data services that link Jackson’s headquarters in Lansing with operations in the United Kingdom.

Jackson creates, manages and distributes a diverse portfolio of financial products that can be used by independent broker-dealers and advisers as they help their clients plan for retirement. To enhance Jackson’s position in what has become a highly competitive retirement marketplace, PGDS is relying on AT&T’s networking solution to strengthen PGDS’s in-house technology capabilities to develop innovative products and services that help financial advisers meet the needs of their clients.

The high speed private line connection will enable PGDS to consolidate Jackson’s mainframe and midrange computing systems and applications at one data center location in Lansing. The high bandwidth allows for a fast connection to reduce latency and enables the client to run high-performance applications anywhere across the enterprise.

PGDS’s data center consolidation project will streamline Jackson’s data infrastructure, eliminate duplication and reduce costs. In addition, the firm will be able to improve end-user productivity and efficiency by standardizing applications across all of Jackson’s locations in Europe and the U.S.

“The quality and reliability of AT&T’s services will help us consolidate data services and provide our associates around the world with standardized applications and communications capabilities,” said Keith Moore, chief technology officer-Global Data Services for Jackson’s parent company, Prudential plc, an international financial services firm with headquarters in London.
