New Video Editing Software Makes it Easier for Consumers to Be More Creative and Make Hollywood-Style Home Movies

SAN JOSE, CA — Sept. 27, 2005 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced Adobe® Premiere® Elements 2.0 for Windows®, a major upgrade to its complete home-video editing software for video enthusiasts. Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 offers the perfect combination of superior control, ease of use, and reliability needed to automate tedious video editing tasks and help consumers be more creative at home. Now video enthusiasts can import video clips from any digital video device, experiment with hundreds of professional transitions and effects, and burn videos to DVD -- complete with custom menus -- or transfer them to portable video players.

Also today, Adobe announced the availability of Adobe Photoshop® Elements 4.0 software, a major upgrade to the No. 1 selling consumer photo editing software* (see separate press release). Available as separate products or together in a single retail package, Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 Plus Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 deliver the powerful and affordable software consumers need to be creative and delight friends and family with their digital photos and home videos.

“The ability to produce professional-quality home movies has become more important now that DV camcorder prices are falling and people are capturing video from alternate devices like digital cameras and mobile phones,” said Bryan Lamkin, senior vice president of Digital Imaging and Digital Video Products at Adobe. “With Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0, hobbyists can get to the fun part faster, sharing their stories and creating Hollywood-style home movies that family and friends will want to watch.”
Workspace Ease, Support for All Video Types & Sensational Sound

Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 makes it a snap to get video footage into a computer. It automatically finds all the footage on the tape, separates clips into scenes, and presents them in order, ready for editing. Saving time on tasks like video transfer means consumers can focus on the fun of creating their videos.

In addition to FireWire video transfer, Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 keeps video enthusiasts ahead of the pack with full DV-quality video transfer over USB2 for newer cameras that support DV-via-USB. The new Media Downloader allows consumers to easily transfer video from the widest variety of non-DV devices, from unprotected DVD disks and set-top recorders, to MPEG-4 video from mobile phones and digital cameras.

Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 adds ease and flexibility with the new, self-adjusting workspace that saves video hobbyists significant time by switching back and forth between editing functions such as adding special effects and titles, creating DVD menus, burning DVDs, and exporting formats for Web streaming and e-mail. Flexible and easy to use, the software can now also move a project from one computer to another through a new Project Archiver feature.

Video enthusiasts can take their editing to the next level with the new, context-sensitive properties panel, which provides advanced control of every effect, preset, title screen and DVD menu and helps create new one-click presets. Hobbyists can now create animated scene buttons in DVD menus allowing friends and family to see a mini-movie thumbnail that previews the scene.

Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 software takes as much care with audio as it does with video, including Hollywood standard Dolby stereo, and a full complement of audio editing and enhancement features.

Adobe offers a complete family of products that meet the needs of video enthusiasts, with Premiere Elements 2.0 for superior quality home-video editing and Premiere Pro for the more advanced professional or the most demanding amateur videographer.
