Schneider National Leverages Oracle(r) Applications and Infrastructure Software to Enhance Enterprise Growth, Efficiency

Schneider National, a premier provider of transportation, logistics and intermodal services, has selected Oracle(r) Applications and infrastructure software to create a fully integrated transaction and data environment, Oracle announced today. The goal is to equip the company for significant domestic and global growth while continuing its commitment to continually improve the customer experience.
Schneider National has a multi-dimensional business model, offering customers end-to-end domestic and international logistics solutions. As Schneider expanded its service offerings and geographic footprint, the company needed a more flexible and quick-to-deploy information platform. Executives realized the requirement for a better system to stay ahead of the competition and prepare for future domestic and global growth. Schneider evaluated multiple vendors who offered a broad range of integrated applications that could support quote-to-cash and other core business processes. Based on the success of its existing investment in Oracle’s Siebel applications, as well as the combination of Oracle’s proven database and middleware software, the Oracle E-Business Suite and transportation management applications, the company selected Oracle.

“We wanted to invest in a vendor with a proven track-record, best-in-class functionality across multiple areas - from transportation management to demand planning to the middleware layer - and a company who was willing to partner in the development of new capabilities. Oracle was the clear leader in all of these areas,” said Schneider National Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer Judy Lemke. “With Oracle, we are embarking on a significant transformation that enables growth, operational excellence, and improves the customer experience.”

Schneider National purchased the Oracle E-Business Suite to benefit from integrated financials, procurement, human resources, payroll, supplier management, enterprise asset management, demand planning and supply chain management functionality. Oracle Transportation Management will also give Schneider end-to-end planning, execution and visibility across each of its transportation and logistics operations - including asset and non-asset services. This will help the company ensure that every shipment is delivered to customers in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

Also critical to Schneider’s decision in selecting Oracle were capabilities in Oracle Fusion Middleware 10g including Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Application Server 10g and Oracle Identity Management 10g. Schneider decided to invest in Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Real Application Clusters to benefit from a highly available and scalable platform.

“Companies rely on Schneider National to transport materials efficiently, prepare for seasonal and promotional spikes in volume, manage transportation services across continents, and ensure that goods are moved out of ports as quickly and safely as possible,” said Lemke. “We are embarking on this transformation with Oracle to ensure that we continue to promote the success of our customers’ operations, provide them with maximum visibility, and keep their supply chains running as efficiently and effectively as possible.”

Schneider National is currently implementing Oracle Contact Center Anywhere, Oracle’s Siebel Marketing, Oracle Real-Time Decisions and Oracle’s Siebel Partner Relationship Management.
