U-M Health System named one of 2007 “Most Wireless” hospitals and health systems

ANN ARBOR, MI – The University of Michigan Health System has been named to the list of the nation’s Most Wireless hospitals, according to the results of the 2007 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study. The study was released in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine.

“We are pleased that UMHS has been recognized for the exceptional wireless infrastructure and clinical application suite that we have established,” says Jocelyn DeWitt, Ph.D., chief information officer, U-M Hospitals and Health Centers.

“We recognize that wireless technology is essential for the electronic patient care environment that we are developing. It is key for clinical care as we support clinicians who are mobile, require immediate access to patient applications in order to deliver safe and high-quality patient care, and who are located across a wide geographic area"

UMHS is one of the 25 hospitals and health systems that scored highest on survey questions about wireless applications. The annual Most Wired Survey focuses on how the nation’s hospitals use information technologies for quality, customer service, public health and safety, business processes, and workforce issues. Hospitals & Health Networks magazine has named the most wired and wireless hospitals and health systems since 1999 and 2002, respectively.
