Expansion with Bic Underscores Long Time Relationship with Electronics Giant.

Round Rock, Texas,-Dell’s strategy to reach more customers globally via direct and indirect distribution channels has resulted in a retail partnership with Bic Camera Inc. of Japan, Dell announced today.

Dell will sell a variety of systems through Bic Camera, including its new XPS™ M1330 performance notebook, the world’s thinnest 13.3 inch system. It will also sell the Inspiron™ 1520 notebook, Inspiron 6400 notebook and Inspiron 530s desktop to help customers enjoy the high-definition life.

Since 2000 Dell has staffed “Real Site” kiosks in Bic Camera stores and other retail outlets, where customers place orders for Dell products, which are built to order and shipped directly to them. Expansion into traditional retail sales at 22 Bic Camera stores throughout Japan beginning in early August represents the trust of a valued partnership and commitment to customers in Japan.

“Building our global capabilities is a great way for Dell to connect with customers we haven’t necessarily reached in the past, and working with Bic Camera is a logical next step to connect with customers in Japan,” said Chris Cowger, Dell Consumer vice president of business development. “With retail agreements now forged in the U.S., the U.K. and Japan, we are on our way to helping customers realize the digital lifestyle of their choice around the globe. Stay tuned for more.”

By providing different ways to connect Dell via the Internet, over the phone and now at select retail outlets, Dell expects to widen the opportunity for Japanese customers to experience new products and services that are uniquely designed to meet their personal needs.
