WEBWIRE

Arkema and its subsidiary Altuglas International are sponsoring the artist Vincent Leroy who is exhibiting his “Champ Mécanique” (Mechanical Field) creation in the Parc Maurice Prost on the premises of the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, for the 4th Nuit Blanche event organised by the city of Paris on 1st October.
“Champ mécanique” is a 2,000 sqm field symbolising a vast expanse of giant blades of grass manufactured from Altuglas®, which ripple in the slightest breeze and diffuse their light thanks to the mechanical and aesthetic qualities of this material.
Arkema and Altuglas International are pleased to be associated for the first time with the Nuit Blanche event, which invites the people of Paris to discover and step into the world of modern art at the heart of their city, for all to enjoy.
Vincent Leroy’s “Champ Mécanique” will be at the heart of the “Nouvelles vagues” itinerary, which will take the night visitors from one bank of the River Seine to the other, from the historical quarters around the Hôtel de Ville, to the modern quarters, near the BNF (French National Library).
The inherent qualities of Altuglas - transparency, outstanding light diffusion, scratch- and UV-resistance - prompted Vincent Leroy to choose an Altuglas® Fluo green for his creation exhibited in the gardens of the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital for the duration of one night.

“Champ Mécanique”, by Vincent Leroy : Gardens of La Salpêtrière Hospital, Boulevard de l’hôpital (entrance square Marie Curie - Paris XIII). Métro: Gare d’Austerlitz or Saint Marcel.
Open to the public from Saturday 1st October 19.00h to Sunday 2nd October 7.00h.
Arkema, a world chemical major, offers innovative solutions in the health, transport, sports, construction, water and modern design markets. Present in over 40 countries with 18,600 employees, Arkema achieved sales of 5.2 billion euros in 2004.

Altuglas International, an Arkema Group subsidiary, is the world leader in PMMA, also called « acrylic glass ». Arkema’s PMMA is marketed under the trade names Altuglas® in Europe and Asia, and Plexiglas® on the American continent.
