Driving real-time transportation intelligence, the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) now can access and query data across the enterprise via a geospatial-based interface with Intergraph Corp.’s Integrated Transportation Management System (ITMS).

Intergraph’s ITMS ensures consistency in the look and feel of maps used across SCDOT, while an interactive Web-based legend permits customized display if desired. Through ITMS, road design data and proposed routes and projects, as well as traffic signals inventory and intersection information are now available in real-time. Information can be joined real-time across other transportation management systems and applications to ensure answers are available when needed. ITMS allows all users access to the information they need from one interface, including map-based query results, photolog images, and tabular reports drawn from data stored in multiple data platforms including Oracle® and SQLServer®.

“ITMS provides easy access to the data our employees need to do their jobs. Transportation data is always current and available through a very user-friendly interface regardless of the system in which they are stored,” said Doug Harper, SCDOT chief information officer.

“The combination of real-time access and the ability to run queries across multiple enterprise systems is as good as it gets. We are delivering an unprecedented level of data access so that users may take advantage of combining our business and spatial data for the information they need. Intergraph’s Integrative Transportation Management System turns complex data into information that can be viewed in a completely new way. Working with Intergraph has allowed us to move from vision to reality,” Harper added.

“Intergraph is proud to be working with government and transportation agencies worldwide to ensure the dissemination of accurate and timely information to keep people and products moving safely and efficiently. By offering the best solutions for transportation management, from collecting information in the field to visualizing roadway assets and traffic congestion on a digital map available to anyone anywhere, Intergraph is delivering innovative systems that facilitate delivery of real-time geospatial data,” noted David Kingsbury, Intergraph executive technical director for U.S. government and transportation.
