HBO Receives 86 Emmy® Nominations, the Most of Any Network This Year; Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee Leads All Programming With 17 Nominations; The Sopranos Leads All Series With 15 Nominations

HBO received 86 Primetime Emmy® nominations, the most of any network for the seventh year in a row, for the upcoming 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards®, which were announced today in Los Angeles.

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee led all nominees with 17 nominations, while The Sopranos led all series with 15 nominations. In addition, Entourage and Rome received 7 nominations each, and Deadwood and When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts received 6 nominations each.

HBO’s Emmy® nominations this year include:

- 17 nominations overall for Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, including Outstanding Made for Television Movie, 2 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie (Aidan Quinn, August Schellenberg), Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie (Anna Paquin), Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special (Yves Simoneau), and Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special (Daniel Giat).

- 6 nominations overall for When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts, including Exceptional Merit in Nonfiction Filmmaking and Outstanding Directing for Nonfiction Programming (Spike Lee).


- 5 nominations overall for Longford, including Outstanding Made for Television Movie, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie (Jim Broadbent), and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie (Samantha Morton).


- 4 nominations overall for Extras, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Ricky Gervais), Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series (Ian McKellen), Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant), and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant).
