Upcoming January 8th --“TBN Faith and Fitness Challenge” Calls on St. Louis Churches to ‘Get Fit’

Dec 3 (St. Louis)-----The Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) proudly announces the upcoming “TBN Faith and Fitness Challenge”! TBN, America’s #1 faith channel, is challenging the St. Louis faith community to get fit and healthy by registering their churches to participate in a 12-week contest designed for Promoting Health - Spirit, Soul & Body! Visit the TBN booth (#902) at the Get Hooked on Health Expo to be held at the America’s Center on January 8 and 9, 2005. TBN will feature nutrition/health seminars and live demonstrations at the Expo.

Organized by Charter Communications, The Get Hooked on Health Expo is free and open to the public, and it will showcase community-wide health and fitness information and resources. Designed to encourage the people of St. Louis to make better lifestyle choices, the goal of the Get Hooked on Health campaign is to motivate each individual to take more personal responsibility for daily health decisions—from nutrition to exercise.

TBN’s Faith and Fitness Challenge will feature Dr. Valerie Saxion, a well known TBN naturopathic doctor. In addition, a team of health, fitness, and beauty experts will offer free advice and nutritional samples. They will also perform live demonstrations at the TBN booth. The seminar, hosted by Dr. Saxion, will highlight strategies to get healthy along with practical tips on nutrition, exercise, and anti-aging advances.

“True health and beauty starts from the inside and works its way out. The body knows what to do when we give it the right tools,” says Dr. Saxion. “Focus on being healthy, getting back to that place of homeostasis, and the body will automatically lose weight, look younger, and feel better.” She then adds, “I’ve seen it over and over! Put the right fuel in the tank and your engine will perform wonderfully for you.”

Nationally known Hollywood make-up artist, Peter Lamas, will also be at the TBN booth. He will be creating a new look for ladies with make-up and clothing. Peter is known for his work on many celebrities such as Jackie Onassis and Goldie Hawn. Additionally, hair stylist, Jay Humphries, of Humphries Salon in Dallas, will lend excellent advice to those who visit TBN’s booth. Jay has done hair styling for many celebrities including The Dixie Chicks.

The TBN Faith & Fitness Challenge encourages all participating churches to compete with each other to see which church can lose the most inches and pounds. Church signup for the contest will occur at the TBN booth where Dr. Saxion and her staff fitness trainer will offer diet and exercise program recommendations to help participants achieve the best results.

Contest rules and information on prizes for the final winners will be mailed to the local St. Louis churches in mid-December. The package will also include a form that will allow participation in a drawing in which five individuals will win personal consultations with Dr. Saxion and her team of health and beauty experts. These consultations will take place in live demonstrations on the Expo floor. Daily drawings for additional prizes will also occur at the TBN booth.

“We believe this campaign will be used as an instrument in God’s plan to bring wholeness and health on every level to the St. Louis faith community – Spirit, soul and body,” says Amy Fihn, Faith Community Relations Coordinator for TBN. “Without optimum health we cannot fulfill God’s vision and purpose for our lives.”
