Tele Atlas (FSE: TA6, EUNV: TA), a leading global provider of digital maps and dynamic content for navigation and location based solutions and a Certified Partner in the Oracle PartnerNetwork, today announced Tele Atlas MultiNet for Oracle® Database 11g. Planned for availability in August, the full Western Europe version will include Oracle Database 11g geocoding and routing extensions. Oracle Database 11g-compliant 3D City Maps are scheduled to be included later in the year.

MultiNet is a turn-by-turn database product for creating compelling map-based solutions designed to help end users quickly locate the people and services they need; reach their destinations via safe, reliable, and customizable routes; and use the clearest, most visually compelling maps available. MultiNet-based applications have already been deployed in millions of automotive systems, personal navigation devices, personal computers, PDAs and mobile phones. MultiNet for Oracle Database 11g allows Tele Atlas partners to incorporate the extensive suite of Oracle Database 11g spatial capabilities into their applications and to speed application deployment with prebuilt routing and geocoding functionality.

“MultiNet for Oracle Database 11g helps Tele Atlas partners easily access our powerful turn-by-turn map database and rapidly bring their applications to market,” said Tele Atlas Vice President of Research and Development Rob Van Essen. “We worked closely with Oracle during beta testing to fine tune the Oracle Database 11g spatial capabilities in MultiNet, and to facilitate a proper modeling of 3D City models. The support of 3D features in Oracle Database 11g is important to the development of next generation map-based applications, with textured models of buildings and landmarks that more closely match what users actually see in their surroundings.”

“Oracle Database 11g delivers an extensive set of new features and capabilities that help drive innovation by raising the standard across the board for all types of database applications in the areas of grid consolidation, manageability and change assurance, information lifecycle management, and security and compliance,” said Willie Hardie, vice president of Database Product Marketing at Oracle. “Our partners can now build this new functionality into their applications to help provide better business insight and further extend the success they’ve had with our previous database software. Our joint customers benefit from leading-edge technology innovations from both Oracle and our partners.”
