Metso USA Renews Domestic Services as Finland-Based Engineering and Technology Company Renews a Global Networking Services Contract with AT&T

Atlanta, Georgia,-AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) has announced that Metso’s U.S. division has renewed an AT&T OneNet® contract for domestic and international long distance voice service. Metso, a global engineering and technology corporation that serves customers in the industries of pulp and paper, energy, and rock-and-minerals processing, adds this OneNet contract to a recently closed global networking services deal with AT&T.

Metso’s established AT&T Virtual Private Network (VPN) solution supports the company’s locations in Europe, North America, South America, Africa and the Asia Pacific region and enables Metso to develop, deploy and easily relocate mission-critical, real-time applications on its corporate network. The network services support a broad array of applications, including e-mail, financial reporting, Web conferencing and several Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

Metso maintains a large subset of its global managed VPN in the U.S. The company’s renewed AT&T OneNet service allows Metso to apply a wide variety of call-management, routing and call-processing features to minimize costs and maximize flexibility of services across its corporate enterprise.

“The AT&T global network infrastructure has already allowed us to implement, consolidate and upgrade a number of global business applications,” said Peter Brodin, director of Information Technology Infrastructure Services for the Americas, Metso. “We are now seeking to leverage our strong existing network resources to add value and build communications capabilities that will drive our business. AT&T’s OneNet service is another offering that has helped Metso establish a very strong, mutually beneficial relationship with AT&T.”

Metso first selected AT&T as its global network services provider four years ago when it required more flexibility from its network services to adapt and grow with new applications. Among other global services, AT&T currently provides Metso with Wi-Fi access as an extension to a Remote Access Service and global networking solution that links Metso’s approximately 120 sites in 23 countries.
