Global Leaders to Convene at FPA’s World Leadership Forum 2005

NEW YORK, Sept. 13 -- The Foreign Policy Association (FPA) will hold its World Leadership Forum 2005 on September 15 at the PricewaterhouseCoopers Headquarters in New York City, with a theme entitled “Charting the Future in an Era of Uncertainty.”

World Leadership Forum provides senior executives, business strategists, investors and policy makers with an opportunity to hear perspectives from political and business leaders and to exchange views on global trends and issues that will shape business and foreign policy agendas.

Forum speakers and participants will include: H.E. Aleksander Kwasniewski, President of Poland; H. E. Yoriko Kawaguchi, Former Foreign Minister of Japan; H.E. Enkhbayar Nambar, President of Mongolia; H.E. Tassos Papadopoulos, President of Cyprus; Theodore Roosevelt IV, Managing Director, Lehman Brothers; Hon. Julia Chang Bloch, President, US-China Education Trust; David Denoon, Professor of Politics and Economics, New York University and Chairman, Editorial Board, Great Decisions; William R. The FPA Medal -- which recognizes individuals who demonstrate responsible internationalism and work to expand public knowledge of international affairs, will be presented to President Kwasniewski -- who in his last year of term as president, is widely regarded as a leading contender to succeed Kofi Annan as Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Past recipients of the FPA Medal include former President Bill Clinton; Alan Greenspan, chairman, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System; Alice M. Rivlin, former vice chair, Board of Governors, Federal Reserve System; Robert E. Rubin and Lawrence H. Summers, former secretaries of the treasury; James D. Wolfensohn, president, The World Bank; and William J. McDonough, chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.

World Leadership Forum 2005 will examine and assess current and future policy options. Panels will include: the rise of Asia, the future of the United Nations, the view from Wall Street -- a comprehensive assessment of the global economy, and trends in energy use and acquisition influence on the future of international relations.
