WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 -- Alliance for Justice today announced the launch of its multi-media coverage of the Supreme Court hearings of Judge John Roberts. The coverage will include live blogging to provide response and commentary in real time, as well as daily wrap-up podcasts to provide further in-depth discussion and analysis available to listeners at any time, anywhere.

“The media landscape has changed radically since the last time there was a nomination to the Supreme Court. The Internet and rise of 24-hour news channels have revolutionized the way people get information,” noted Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron. “The nomination of Judge John Roberts provides a unique opportunity to use this new landscape to educate and engage the American public on the vital importance of the Supreme Court,” continued Aron.

Live-blogging is instantaneous reporting as it happens. When something noteworthy occurs, a live blog reports it immediately. It is breaking news meets the blogosphere. Reactions, analysis and commentary on the Roberts hearings will be available within moments on Alliance for Justice’s “Insider Scoop” blog at http://www.SupremeCourtWatch.org.

Podcasts are audio files that can be downloaded and listened to on computers or portable audio devices like the popular iPod. Podcasts are the newest addition to the digital information age, growing at an explosive rate since the beginning of 2005. The “Supreme Court Watch Podcast” will feature daily wrap-ups of the hearings, with in-depth roundtable analysis, including reactions from Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron and Legal Director Seth Rosenthal. A particularly unique feature will be the “soundseeing tours” provided to listeners: soundseeing tours use the ambient noise and the descriptions by the tour guide to give the listener a “you are there” experience.
