Kenworth Clean Power Technology Tour Adds 30 More Stops, Bringing “Green” Message Across America

WEBWIRE

KIRKLAND, Wash., June 21, 2007 – Kenworth Truck Company has expanded its “green” message with the addition of 30 new stops on the Kenworth Clean Power™ Technology Tour, which is traveling to Kenworth dealers throughout America this year.

The tour has completed its opening Western swing and now heads to the Great Lakes and Central regions to give customers a close look at the Kenworth Clean Power no-idle system, which may enhance fuel economy by as much as 8% for customers with current high idling times.

Kenworth Clean Power is beginning production as a factory installed option for the aerodynamic Kenworth T660 with 72-inch AeroCab® sleeper. The Kenworth T660 was recently recognized as a SmartWay™ program eligible truck model by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Kenworth Clean Power uses dedicated, advanced deep-cycle batteries that power a thermal storage cooler with 21,000 BTUs of cooling capacity. Once the truck is shut off, a thermostat regulates the desired temperature and a variable speed fan circulates chilled air through a duct located near the bunk. Extensive testing has shown that when the outside temperature is as high as 95 degrees, Kenworth Clean Power is able to keep the sleeper cool and provide accessory power for up to 10 hours.*

More information on Kenworth Clean Power, including a new video and electronic brochure, is available on Kenworth’s Web site (www.kenworth.com). To see the video, select “Kenworth Clean Power” on the right side of Kenworth’s home page and click on “Watch the Video”.
