Qwest Sponsors Susan G. Komen For The Cure Co-Survivor Award in Wyoming
CHEYENNE, Wyo.- Qwest today announced its continuing fight against breast cancer by sponsoring the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Co-Survivor Award. The award recognizes the many kinds of support that a breast cancer survivor may experience on his or her journey through the disease. The winner of the Co-Survivor Award will be announced August 3 and will be invited to attend the sponsor banquet on August 10 and race day festivities on August 11. Qwest will also provide the winner with a pink Sanyo phone and two months of free Qwest Wireless(R) service.
“The Co-Survivor Award is just one more way Qwest and its employees can show our Spirit of Service in action,” said Michael Ceballos, Qwest’s president for Wyoming. “We’re proud to partner with Komen for the Cure - for the twelfth year in a row - and assist with their important work in Wyoming.”
“A key to our success at Komen for the Cure is that we collaborate with a variety of organizations to provide creative ways for people to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer,” said Pamela Downing, race chair for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. “We are proud to have the opportunity to partner with Qwest in connection with the Co-Survivor Award in Wyoming.”
Downing said effective co-survivors demonstrate tact, commitment, compassion, creativity, patience, initiative, dependability and endurance. “Truly great co-survivors serve as examples to us all and find meaningful ways to ease the burden of someone dealing with breast cancer,” she added.
Patients or survivors can submit nominations for the Co-Survivor Award beginning at: www.komenwyoming.org. The Web site will provide specific instructions on the nomination process, including a timeline. The nomination deadline is July 15, 2007.
