Delaware Center for Maternal and Fetal Medicine Sponsors 5k Race to Fight the #1 Cause of Newborn Death

Wilmington, DE, June 13, 2007—The Delaware Center for Maternal and Fetal Medicine of Christiana Care is sponsoring its first 5k Race for Time on Saturday, June 30, 2007, at the Wilmington Riverfront. The event will raise money to fight infant prematurity.

Every year, more than half a million infants in the United States are born prematurely. Some don’t survive, while others suffer birth defects and lifelong health problems. Tragically, the rate of premature births is rising worldwide, with no known cause.

The Race for Time is your chance to help find a cure for this growing crisis. All proceeds from the race will benefit the Prematurity Clinic of Christiana Care, which is one of the nation’s top providers of obstetric services.

Walkers and runners will gather at the Overlook Pavilion on the scenic Wilmington Riverfront, located behind the AAA Building. Registration opens at 7:30 A.M. and the race begins at 8:30 A.M. A $16 entry fee is required prior to June 28, with family and team entry discounts available.

Come join us and walk to give all infants a healthy start. For more information, please contact Wayne Kursh at 302-654-6400 or by email at info@races2run.com.
