WEBWIRE

VANCOUVER - VIA Rail wishes to advise customers that as river levels return to normal, it has begun preparations to resume all normal operations between Prince George and Prince Rupert. Beginning Wednesday June 13th, the Skeena (Jasper to Prince Rupert) will resume operations between Prince George and Prince Rupert in both directions.

Regular service resumes:

Train 6 - Prince Rupert to Prince George (southbound), Wednesday, June, 13th
Train 5 - Prince George to Prince Rupert (northbound), Thursday, June 14th
As a result of the road conditions that developed in the area during the floods, hampering delivery of provisions to the area and VIA trains, VIA wishes to advise travellers that limited food items (breakfast pastries/sandwiches) along with hot/cold beverage service will be available on board between Prince Rupert and Prince George on June 13th. VIA continues to work on increasing the selection of provisions available on board. Regular meal service will be available between Prince George and Jasper, and all regular meal services will resume on June 15th

VIA is advising passengers to carry on snacks for the portion of the trip where no provisions were available.

VIA anticipates that some minor delays may occur due to congestion in the area. VIA wishes to apologize for to its customers for any inconvenience this may cause.

Customers wishing further information may call 888-VIA-RAIL (842-7245).
