Route is part of United’s focus on strengthening its international network

CHICAGO,– United Airlines continues to strengthen its international network and meet customer demand for more service to Asia with today’s launch of daily, nonstop passenger and cargo service between San Francisco and Taipei. United is the only U.S. carrier to offer nonstop service between the U.S. and Taipei.

“We are pleased to offer our customers direct access to an important economic and cultural center by establishing a nonstop link between the Bay Area, Silicon Valley and Taipei,” said Kevin Knight, United’s senior vice president-Planning.

The San Francisco-Taipei route expands United’s breadth of service to Asia and strengthens the company’s San Francisco hub as an international gateway to the Pacific.

United Flight 871 will depart San Francisco International Airport at 12:41 p.m. Thursday and land in Taipei Taoyuan International Airport at 5:10 p.m. Friday, local time. Beginning June 8, United Flight 872 will depart Taipei at 12:10 p.m. and arrive in San Francisco at 8:24 a.m. the same day.

United will operate the combined passenger and cargo San Francisco-Taipei service using a B777 aircraft configured with 10 United First® seats, 45 United Business® seats and 198 United Economy® seats, including 84 Economy Plus® seats that offer up to five more inches of legroom. With the B777 aircraft, United has the capability to carry about 20 tons of cargo per flight between the United States and Taiwan.

Sample fare between San Francisco and Taipei is $710 each way, based on required roundtrip purchase.* Travel dates vary by destination. To earn up to 10,000 bonus miles through August 31, 2007, visit www.united.com/tpebonus for details. In addition, customers will earn 500 bonus miles each time they purchase qualifying travel at united.com, which also offers no booking fees and the guaranteed lowest United fares.

United’s position as the world’s largest transpacific passenger carrier is bolstered by this service, as well as by the carrier’s recent launch of new service between Washington Dulles and Tokyo Narita, and the first-ever capital-to-capital service between Washington, D.C., and Beijing. From its San Francisco hub, United became the first U.S. carrier in more than 30 years to offer service to Vietnam. Later this year, United will begin nonstop service between Los Angeles and Hong Kong with direct service to Ho Chi Minh City. United continues to place its assets where they will provide the greatest return for United and its customers while leveraging the company’s strengths – its customer loyalty, hub airports and Asia Pacific network.
