Fujitsu PRIMERGY Servers Power SAP Discovery System for SOA Evaluation

Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation today announced that its PRIMERGY(R) TX300 S3 server is powering the new SAP Discovery System for enterprise SOA. This out-of-the box solution allows companies to evaluate, test, and learn about a number of eSOA scenarios for their organization, while gaining insight into how aligning the eSOA with business processes can lower total cost of ownership (TCO). Designed for both demonstration and training purposes, the joint offering is a simple and economical way to start out on the road to a full enterprise SOA implementation.

The SAP Discovery System consists of SAP ERP 2005 and SAP Netweaver 2004x pre-installed on Fujitsu dual-core PRIMERGY TX300 S3 servers. Fujitsu’s unique reset capability automatically returns the SAP Discovery System to its factory settings, ensuring a dynamic yet risk-free environment for SOA evaluation, testing, and training at a fraction of the cost of relying on consultants to manage multiple scenarios. As a result, customers, systems integrators (SIs), and independent software vendors (ISVs) are able to cost-effectively evaluate different business scenarios using original data each time. The scenarios are designed using standards-based enterprise web services that provide pre-defined business logic. Essential building blocks for business process flexibility, these enterprise services are reusable pieces of application functionality that can be rapidly composed into new or enhanced business processes.

“Fujitsu shares our vision for enterprise SOA and is a key advocacy and execution partner with enterprise customers,” said Michel Serie, vice president, Solution Office, SAP AG. “Their technology expertise is outstanding, which is proved by the functionality within the SAP Discovery System. As a result, we are certain of seeing traction amongst businesses.”

“The unique features of Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers provide an ideal platform for businesses to learn more about eSOA using the SAP Discovery System,” said Richard McCormack, senior vice president of marketing for Fujitsu Computer Systems. “It’s a simple and useful way for application specialists, IT managers, and enterprise infrastructure managers alike to evaluate SAP applications within the familiar structure of their own organizations.”

The PRIMERGY TX300 S3 server combines advanced processor and storage technology with a wealth of standard features that enhance performance and reliability. Offering Dual-Core and Quad-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) Processors, up to eight Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) hard disk drives, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, and three PCI express slots, the PRIMERGY TX300 S3 server is an ideal platform for the most demanding applications. Distributed environments with limited IT resources will appreciate this server’s remote management features, reliability, and expandability.
