Alaska Air Group Reports May Traffic

SEATTLE — Alaska Air Group, Inc. (NYSE:ALK) today reported May passenger traffic for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines (Alaska) and Horizon Air (Horizon).

ALASKA AIRLINES

Alaska’s May traffic increased 5.7 percent to 1.582 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) from 1.496 billion flown a year earlier. Capacity during May was 2.051 billion available seat miles (ASMs), 6.2 percent higher than the 1.931 billion in May 2006.

The passenger load factor (the percentage of available seats occupied by fare-paying passengers) for the month was 77.1 percent, compared to 77.5 percent in May 2006. The airline carried 1,533,200 passengers, compared to 1,444,200 in May 2006.

RPMs for the five-month period totaled 7.163 billion, a 1.4 percent increase from the 7.063 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the five months ended May 2007 increased
3.8 percent to 9.714 billion ASMs, compared to 9.359 billion in 2006.

The passenger load factor for the first five months of 2007 was 73.7 percent, compared to 75.5 percent in 2006. The airline carried 6,843,500 passengers, compared to 6,769,000 in 2006.

HORIZON AIR

Horizon’s May traffic increased 6.1 percent to 243.3 million RPMs from 229.3 million flown a year earlier. Capacity during May was 327.9 million ASMs, 7.9 percent higher than the 304.0 million in May 2006.

The passenger load factor for the month was 74.2 percent, compared to 75.4 percent in May 2006. The airline carried 646,600 passengers, compared to 583,700 in May 2006.

RPMs for the five-month period totaled 1.098 billion, a 2.5 percent increase from the 1.071 billion recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the five months ended May 2007 increased
6.5 percent to 1.572 billion ASMs, compared to 1.476 billion in 2006.

The passenger load factor for the first five months of 2007 was 69.8 percent, compared to 72.6 percent in 2006. The airline carried 2,843,200 passengers, compared to 2,731,000 in 2006.

For Horizon’s network flying (which excludes those flights operated as Frontier JetExpress), May traffic increased 21.6 percent to 209.8 million RPMs from 172.5 million flown a year earlier. Capacity for May was 278.7 million ASMs, 19.9 percent higher than the
232.4 million in May 2006.

The passenger load factor for the month was 75.3 percent, compared to 74.2 percent in May 2006. The airline carried 586,200 passengers on Horizon network flights, compared to 493,000 in May 2006.

RPMs for the five-month period totaled 924.9 million, a 13.9 percent increase from the 811.7 million recorded a year earlier. Capacity for the five months ended May 2007 increased 16.3 percent to 1.307 billion ASMs, compared to 1.124 billion in 2006.

The passenger load factor for the first five months of 2007 was 70.8 percent, compared to 72.2 percent in 2006. The airline carried 2,569,000 passengers on Horizon network flights, compared to 2,342,300 in 2006.

Horizon’s RPMs, passenger load factor and passengers are reported using actual May operating data for flights operated as Horizon Air combined with estimated operating data for Horizon’s regional jet service operated as Frontier JetExpress.
