Metso to rebuild paper machines in Russia and Sweden

Metso Paper will supply JSC Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill in Russia with an extensive production line rebuild and Billerud Gruvön mill in Sweden with a wet-end rebuild.
Production line rebuild to Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill

Metso Paper will supply JSC Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill in Segezha, Russian Karelia with an extensive rebuild of their PM9 production line for extensible sack kraft paper. The rebuilt production line will be started up in early summer 2008. The total value of the order is about EUR 11 million.

Metso’s delivery will include the complete equipment for high-consistency refining, a breast roll shaking system for wire section, a dryer section rebuild, and automation and quality control systems. In addition, the delivery includes erection supervision, start-up assistance and training.

The rebuild targets to raise the productivity of the paper machine.

The Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill, formerly known as Segezhabumprom, is located in northwestern Russia in the Republic of Karelia, about 700 km north of St. Petersburg. It is a part of Pulp and Paper Industry division of the InvestForestIndustry holding. The Mill produces standard sack paper and semi-extensible sack paper.

Wet end rebuild to Billerud Gruvön mill

Metso Paper will supply the Billerud Gruvön mill in Sweden with a wet-end rebuild, which will take place in spring 2008. The customer has requested that the value of the order is not disclosed

The rebuild includes a new headbox with dilution control, a new top fourdrinier, and a modification of the base fourdrinier including a new couch roll.

The target for the rebuild of the Billerud Gruvön PM 2 is to improve paper quality and optimize the raw material expenses for its White Liner and White Craft production.
