BenQ Demonstrates Strong Market Share Gains Across the APAC Region in Q1’07

TAIPEI, TAIWAN,– BenQ projectors delivered strong quarter-over-quarter market share gains in Q1’07 across the Asia-Pacific region*1 up 24% from Q4’06, at 11.43% share of the market, with significant growth in Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia and Australia, according to DTC Worldwide, a leading market research firm.

"The cross-functional digital projectors are being well-received by educational institutes in several markets across the Asia-Pacific region*1,” expressed Conway Lee, General Manager of BenQ Digital Media Business Group. “This quarter, our product offering to the growing education segment will be further completed with the launch of the SP831 cross-functional projector.

Sales of the ASEAN*2 region jumped 127% quarter-over-quarter, while sales of Greater China, excluding Taiwan R.O.C, continued to grow in a healthy manner, came in at 12%, a 41.6% increase compared to the corresponding quarter in the previous year. In the Middle East, BenQ projector secured top three positions in four markets, ranking No. 1 in Saudi Arabia at 26.2%.

BenQ demonstrated strong share gains in Korea reaching No. 1 position spot at 15.6 % share of the market, up 86.3% over the last three-month time period. In Malaysia, BenQ almost quadrupled its market share, reaching the No.4 position spot with a 15.20 % share of the market. In Indonesia, BenQ leads the market with a 32.1% share, an increase of 315% compared to the corresponding quarter in the previous year. In Australia, BenQ regained its No.1 position spot at 13.9% percent share of the market, a 10.6% growth on a quarter-over-quarter basis.
