Berwyn, Pennsylvania. The National Digital Medical Archive, Inc. (NDMA) announced the completion of an $11 million upgrade to its enterprise medical content communications infrastructure. Among the many customer enhancing benefits, the latest upgrade includes enhancements that will better enable enterprise data management and cross-enterprise image sharing while improving clinical workflow efficiencies and increase patient record availability.

“This upgrade serves as the foundation for new innovations and applications in healthcare informatics. By leveraging NDMA’s core competency in medical imaging and data management, we’ve created a new paradigm in healthcare which addresses the needs of both physicians and patients. More specifically, we intend to deliver on the promise of anytime-anywhere access to patient data by treating clinicians" said Derek Danois, NDMA president. “Today’s customers are seeking much more than storage solutions to address the explosion of data within their enterprise, they are seeking a clinical content management solution which can be used to improve access to clinical information and support clinical decision making,” added Danois.

Additional infrastructure upgrades include a new center for network operations at the company’s headquarters in Berwyn, PA and substantial growth of its national data center facilities to accommodate an ever expanding client base.

“NDMA was the first national high-speed connected platform for medical data and image management and we continue to provide the absolute best cutting-edge technology infrastructure to our customers,” says Dr. Robert Hollebeek, NDMA strategic technology advisor. “NDMA’s approach to data management is grounded in patient-centricity, with next-generation tools providing content management, metadata indexing and reporting that extend well-beyond anything this market has ever seen,” added Hollebeek.

The NDMA communications infrastructure platform delivers a GRID based Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and takes advantage of open protocols and interfaces to:
• Coordinate enterprise data resources from disparate systems
• Address authentication, authorization and data access on an enterprise wide level
• Enable enterprise aggregation and integration of medical information across heterogeneous and geographically dispersed environments
