Sony Expands Wall Station Network Front Door By Adding Doorbell/Intercom Integration

Addressing the growing needs of new homebuilders and custom installers, Sony today announced at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference in San Francisco (May 30-June 1) that it is expanding the capabilities of its versatile WallStation line by including intercom functionality at doorbell locations.



The new WallStation component, model WS-ADP4, integrates up to four entrance way doorbell intercoms, electronic door releases and an external chime.

“Successful production builders are meeting the demand for cutting-edge technologies in new homes,” said Neal Manowitz, director of marketing for Sony Electronics’ consumer systems and applications division. “The incorporation of a product like Sony’s WallStation meets a growing consumer demand for integrated home theater, multi-room audio distribution and whole house communication systems.”

The WallStation line of in-wall entertainment systems; models CDP-NW10 (stereo CD player) and DVP-NW50 (5.1 home theater with DVD/CD player) are self-contained appliances which include am/fm radio, line-in for adding auxiliary components and remote control. WallStation also features multi-room music sharing, intercom, party mode, audio room monitor and mp3 streaming from a pc when connected to a standard home network.

The WS-ADP4 doorbell adapter will be available in September and can be purchased through authorized Sony installation dealers. Features of the WS-ADP4 include:

Connection for up to four outside door locations
Support for a wide range of doorbell intercoms (2 and 3 -wire configuration)
Electronic door release
Output for external chime
