Elsevier Partners with European Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics
World-leading scientific and medical publisher Elsevier is pleased to announce the formation of a publishing partnership with the European Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (EFOMP), a Federation of professional societies representing more than 6000 physicists and engineers in the field of medical physics in Europe, and the Associazione Italiana di Fisica Medica.
Under the agreement, Elsevier will assume publication of Physica Medica, European Journal of Medical Physics (EJMP), official journal of EFOMP and Associazione Italiana di Fisica Medica, beginning with the March 2007 issue.
EJMP provides an international forum for research and reviews on medical physics. The major topics addressed by the journal are: Medical Imaging, Radiation Therapy, Radiation Protection, Measuring Systems and Signal Processing and Education and Training in Medical Physics. Associate Editors have been appointed to help ensure the journal publishes the highest quality articles in these areas. The journal’s audience includes scientists, engineers and technologists, working in hospitals, health centres, university departments and industry in a wide range of specialist areas.
Each quarterly issue of EJMP presents the latest peer-reviewed clinical research on medical physics, complemented by expert reviews of critical topics in the field. Other features include conference papers, technical notes and book reviews. To read articles from the March 2007 issue free of charge visit http://www.physicamedicaonline.com.
Alberto Del Guerra, Editor-in-Chief, said, "I am very proud that, Elsevier has accepted to publish Physica Medica from 2007. This means a lot to the Journal, to the readers and to the medical physics community at large. The journal content will be printed at a faster pace and will also be accessible electronically together with other Elsevier journals. In addition, the submission and the reviewing of all manuscripts will be web-based, supported by Elsevier. This new procedure, which will be implemented shortly, will drastically reduce the reviewing process time and will be more cost-effective for the Journal"
Members of Associazione Italiana di Fisica Medica will continue to receive the print edition of EJMP as a benefit of membership. In addition, members will be able to access the entire contents of each issue online. Other online features will include a comprehensive search engine, allowing users to search EJMP alone, or to include hundreds of other Elsevier journals in a single query; options to sign up for e-mail alerts; and more. The Journal will be accessible through Elsevier’s online database, ScienceDirect, the world’s largest electronic collection of science, technology and medicine full text and bibliographic information.
