Wireless Explorer Game Is One of Six Learning Games Now Available at Cisco CCNA Prep Center

SAN JOSE, CA, August 16, 2005 - Cisco Systems® today announced the availability of Wireless Explorer, a new educational game designed to test networking knowledge and wireless skills for technical professionals. The Wireless Explorer game is available to anyone with a Cisco.com login via the CCNA Prep Center (www.cisco.com/go/prepcenter).

Wireless Explorer is an immersive game that allows networking professionals to test wireless knowledge and develop wireless skill sets through an entertaining space challenge. Players compete by ensuring friendly space aliens remain in wireless communication throughout their galactic voyages. Individual and team scores are based on successful site survey strategies, deployment skills and network maintenance.

The Wireless Explorer game is one of six games now available on the CCNA Prep Center for users to sharpen network skills and match talents with other networking professionals. Other games include:

Cisco Certification Multi-Player Challenge: CCNA allows certification candidates to compete with peers in a “first-to-the-buzzer” format as they answer CCNA practice questions individually or in teams.

Cisco CCNA Simulation Game is designed for networking professionals to test their skills in configuring an IP address and subnet mask.

Rockin’ Retailer enables users to learn the benefits of IP Communication solutions while addressing issues with communication, inventory and customer service.

Network Defenders tests networking knowledge and allows users to learn how to defend against relentless security attacks.

SAN Rover is storage game where players traverse Mars in a Rover building a Storage Area Network (SAN).

“These games are a fun and innovative way to expand networking knowledge,” said Don Field, director of certifications at Cisco. “The gaming series is one of many resources we are making available to networking professionals at the CCNA Prep Center.”

As a component of the Cisco Career Certifications program, the CCNA Prep Center provides professionals with a wide variety of resources, including practice questions, labs, simulations, games, tips, expert advice and peer discussion forums for CCNA certification candidates.

CCNA certified professionals can install, configure, and operate LAN, WAN, and dial access services for small networks (100 nodes or fewer), including but not limited to use of these protocols: IP, IGRP, Serial, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, RIP, Ethernet, Access Lists.

Though the site provides useful practice and training resources for CCNA, candidates are encouraged to contact a Cisco Learning Partner for an array of CCNA authorized training offerings, including instructor-led and e-learning courses.
