UnitedHealth Group Appoints New Head of Corporate Communications

MINNEAPOLIS.- UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) today announced that Don Nathan has been appointed senior vice president, chief communications officer for the Company, effective May 28, 2007. He will have responsibility for all internal and external communications and for enhancing the Company’s reputation management and communications capabilities. Mr. Nathan is a partner at the strategic communications firm of Robinson Lerer & Montgomery and has served as interim head of Corporate Communication for UnitedHealth Group since the end of 2006.

Don’s broad experience and the relationships he has built with the senior management team will strengthen our efforts to expand and shape our communications function and structure.”

Mr. Nathan joined Robinson Lerer & Montgomery (RLM) in 1991 and has been a partner at the firm for ten years. At RLM, he has worked with clients to develop and execute communication strategies in a wide range of situations, such as longer-term corporate planning and positioning, litigation, government investigations, financial transactions, labor relations and public policy.

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Mr. Nathan worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., serving in a number of different Congressional and campaign capacities, including press secretary, speechwriter, analyst and advisor on domestic and foreign policy issues and political strategist.
