Faster speeds and improved reliability enable accelerated growth

AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced that Security Service Federal Credit Union (SSFCU), one of the leading credit unions in the United States, has signed a new $3 million contract with AT&T. The three-year contract includes deployment of an Optical Ethernet Metropolitan Area Network (OPT-E-MAN®) solution in San Antonio as an upgrade to the company’s data network services.

The OPT-E-MAN service is a switched Ethernet service that connects local area networks (LANs) within the same metropolitan area. Through the OPT-E-MAN solution, which will increase network speeds by up to 400 percent, SSFCU will be able to use switched metro Ethernet technology to link facilities situated across San Antonio through a single managed network solution. This ensures virtually uninterrupted data transport from point to point, point to multipoint or multipoint to multipoint.

The agreement also calls for AT&T to upgrade SSFCU’s existing ATM network services to AT&T Virtual Private Network (VPN) services. The VPN will connect SSFCU locations in Texas and Colorado that are not served by the OPT-E-MAN solution, using Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology to prioritize business-critical data traveling over the network.

“This network services upgrade is a member-focused initiative designed to ensure SSFCU can continue to deliver the high level of customer service our members expect,” said SSFCU’s senior vice president and chief information officer, Jay Winslow. “With the number of members and employees that we have, AT&T‘s networking services are helping us manage a massive amount of mission-critical data every minute of every day.”

AT&T’s VPN services deliver the improved bandwidth and scalability that SSFCU needs to reliably conduct transactions more quickly and efficiently while enhancing data security. The AT&T solution also integrates SSFCU’s online banking platform, CompuBranch, which allows customers to conveniently access real-time account information at any time and from anywhere they have Internet access.

Additionally, SSFCU’s award-winning Member Contact Center will continue to use AT&T Toll-Free Advanced Features to manage and ensure a timely response to calls. AT&T Toll-Free Services and AT&T Toll-Free Advanced Features help businesses extend their reach to targeted audiences, enhance their customer service and control their marketing expenses.
