FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SACRAMENTO, California, August 11, 2005 -- Government Technology Solutions and Microdasys today jointly announced a partnership in which Government Technology Solutions has become the exclusive reseller of Microdasys encrypted content inspection technologies to public sector markets.

“In the past decade there has been almost annual “new, must have” technologies. These have included Centralized Anti-Virus, Behavior Based IPS solutions, Anti-Spam, and a host of others. None of these has effectively been able to leverage existing investments in IT security technology while at the same time addressing a risk that has long concerned IT managers.” said Robert Deitz, Government Technology Solutions CEO. “I believe Microdasys SCIP technology is an industry first. We definitely consider this to be a key partnership and look forward to helping Microdasys redefine Network Security”.

According to IDC, over 30% of all web traffic is encrypted. This means that almost one third of the web traffic entering and leaving enterprise networks has the potential of importing viruses and other forms of malicious code without detection. With encryption, an attacker can deliver viruses, destructive code and objectionable content directly through the most sophisticated network anti-virus scanning technology, this is because these technologies simply can’t open and inspect encrypted packets.

Encrypted web traffic is based on a trust model where digital server certificates are supposed to guarantee the identity and trustworthiness of a webserver. However, server certificates can be self-signed, stolen, bogus, expired or revoked and they are beyond the control of the security administrator. Every user can ignore the warning messages of the browser (when an invalid certificate is detected) and allow the connection. Even more problematic is the fact that a major security issue - “revoked certificates” - is rarely dealt with, despite the fact that at any given time there are more than 100,000 revoked certificates in the wild.

Microdasys SCIP (Secure Content Inspection Proxy) effectively addresses these threats by enabling third party network anti-virus scanners with the ability to inspect encrypted web traffic and check the validity of digital certificates.

“Since the US Federal Government, State and Local government agencies are market segments that we believe are a perfect fit for our solutions, it is very important for us to choose the right partner. I believe that Government Technology Solutions is best company to help us achieve our goals because they truly understand the complex security requirements in the public sector. Their level of customer service and their proven track record in implementing complex security solutions in government agencies, make this a key partnership for Microdasys Inc..” said Karl Altmann, President and CEO of Microdasys Inc.
