Oracle Invests in Intellectual Property Management Solutions Leader Sophoi

Oracle today announced that it has made a strategic minority investment in Sophoi, Inc., a privately-held, provider of enterprise intellectual property management software. Sophoi’s iPLS (Intellectual Property Licensing Suite) is a leading enterprise-wide business solution for intellectual property management and licensing. In conjunction with this investment, Oracle and Sophoi will continue to partner to bring innovative end-to-end solutions to the media and entertainment industry.
“Customers of Sophoi and Oracle can benefit from a comprehensive suite of mission critical applications for the media and entertainment industry by combining Oracle’s integrated applications suite and Sophoi’s iPLS solution.” said Lars Wahlstrom, Oracle’s Group Vice President of the Communications, Media and Utilities Global Industries Business Unit. “The Sophoi solution has been built on Oracle technology and can be integrated with Oracle applications, which enables customers to more effectively monetize their content library.”

Sophoi will continue to operate as an independent company and Oracle will appoint two individuals to Sophoi’s Board of Directors in connection with the investment. Financial details of the investment were not disclosed.
