Thales launches a containerized highly mobile naval mission system
Navies increasingly need the ability to integrate and update capabilities throughout a vessel’s lifecycle.
- At Euronaval 2026, Thales unveils its “Maritime Modular Capability”, a containerized mission system designed to provide navies with unprecedented flexibility, allowing them to tailor capabilities to mission profiles, while ensuring rapid deployability in evolving operational context.
- The system is a force multiplier which allows navies to extend their capability by enabling quick and efficient deployment, reconfiguration, and upgraded mission capabilities and efficiency.
- With this solution, Thales contributes to the development of “Hybrid Navy” fleets, where modular, adaptable systems redefine naval operations.
Navies require flexible and rapidly deployable solutions to be efficient in a constantly evolving geopolitical landscape. Thales “Maritime Modular Capability” is a containerized mission system, designed to deliver agility, rapid deployment and operational flexibility, in order to ensure operational effectiveness across a broad and evolving mission portfolio.
Theses containerized modules enable quick deployment, in complex operational environments, on low/uncrewed platforms, ships or even on land. Its architecture enables navies to reconfigure platforms based on evolving mission requirements, ensuring they can rapidly adapt to new threats or changing priorities. Updating capability to operational need without major platform re-work.
This Maritime Modular Capability configuration integrates a complete ecosystem of Thales’ technologies within a single, 20 ft container, transforming this module into a “system of systems”.
The demonstrator supports key operational functions:
- Surveillance and reconnaissance with advanced sensors for optimal coverage including radars, sonars and electronic warfare systems;
- Fire control, remote management via TACTICOS Combat Management System;
- Navigation and communications.
The Maritime Modular Capability is ready for field testing as is and the system is designed with scalability and adaptability at its very core.
The solution can be extended with additional capabilities to meet customers’ requirements in order to satisfy naval forces’ needs.
“Navies increasingly need the ability to integrate and update capabilities throughout a vessel’s lifecycle. Thales’ Maritime Modular Capability will deliver that flexibility.” said Erik-Jan Raatgerink, Strategy director Above Water Systems, Thales.
