Mitsubishi Electric Develops New OT Security Solution for Industrial Equipment

Strengthens product security and enables site-wide visibility for safer and more secure OT environments

TOKYO – WEBWIRE –

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced today that it has developed a new operational technology (OT) security solution for industrial equipment, leveraging the world-class OT cybersecurity technologies of Nozomi Networks, Inc., a U.S.-based company that became a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric in January 2026. The solution will enable industrial equipment manufacturers to implement stronger cybersecurity measures and end users to operate facilities and equipment more safely, securely and reliably. The solution will launch commercially as an extension of Nozomi Arc™1 during the fiscal year ending in March 2028.

In recent years, as IoT adoption and digital transformation have accelerated in the manufacturing and critical infrastructure sectors, OT cybersecurity has become increasingly important for ensuring business continuity. In addition, compliance with regulations and standards, such as the European Cyber Resilience Act,2 is driving increased demand for stronger cybersecurity measures in industrial equipment and the systems in which such equipment is deployed. However, OT environments typically consist of diverse equipment and devices, making it difficult to monitor the status of individual assets, their communications, and abnormal behavior. As a result, addressing cyber threats originating from industrial equipment has become a significant challenge.

The new solution addresses these challenges by integrating Nozomi Arc’s monitoring capabilities directly into industrial equipment, including Mitsubishi Electric’s controller products, to provide USB monitoring, malware detection, quarantine and removal, and software management. These capabilities strengthen the security of industrial equipment and the systems that incorporate them. Furthermore, by connecting with Nozomi’s OT/IoT asset visibility and threat detection solutions, the new solution enables centralized visibility into the status and communications of individual devices and systems, as well as the broader OT environment, for early detection of abnormal behavior and threats.

Mitsubishi Electric plans to deploy this solution across a wide range of its OT products and make it broadly available to industrial equipment and machinery manufacturers. Through these efforts, the company aims to promote higher levels of cybersecurity and visibility across OT environments, contributing to safer and more secure industrial operations. The first product incorporating this solution will be exhibited as a reference exhibit during the 33rd Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF 2026) at Tokyo Big Sight from October 26 to 31.

Satoshi Takeda, Senior Vice President, CDO, and Group President, Digital Innovation at Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, said, “As the risk of cyberattacks targeting OT environments continues to rise, the need to embed security capabilities directly into equipment and devices is becoming increasingly critical. This solution combines Nozomi’s advanced OT cybersecurity technologies with Mitsubishi Electric’s extensive expertise in OT and control technologies. Looking ahead, we plan to integrate the solution with our Serendie™ digital platform to further strengthen OT cybersecurity and operational optimization through the effective use of equipment data. By creating new value that seamlessly connects the shop floor and management, we aim to support our customers’ digital transformation initiatives and enhance their business value.”
