Chelsea Women’s Constant Contact September Goal of the Month revealed!
Wieke Kaptein’s sublime strike against Austria Vienna in the UEFA Women’s Champions League has been voted as our Constant Contact Goal of the Month for September!
The Dutch midfielder broke the deadlock in our opening Champions League league-phase fixture, picking up a loose ball 30 yards from goal before taking two touches to beat a defender and thundering an effort off the underside of the crossbar.
Kaptein hit the ball sweetly beyond the powerless goalkeeper to give us a memorable winner. Our No. 19 has played a big role in our unbeaten start to the campaign, featuring in all nine games so far this season and starting in eight of those encounters.
Her strike was the clear winner among Blues fans, receiving 41 per cent of all votes cast.
Alyssa Thompson’s winner against Arsenal finished second with 14 per cent, while Lauren James’ fine strike against Aston Villa and Lexi Potter’s effort against Birmingham both received 10 per cent to share third place.
Congratulations, Wieke!
