Protecting Health in Puerto Rico: Zimmetry Environmental Recognizes International Infection Prevention Week
Puerto Rico-based environmental, health, and safety firm highlights infection prevention, testing, training, and consulting services to help reduce pathogen exposure risks.
During International Infection Prevention Week, we are proud to provide Puerto Rico’s healthcare facilities, businesses, and other organizations with the testing, consulting, training, and infection control expertise they need to create safer and healthier environments.
Zimmetry Environmental is recognizing International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW), observed October 18–24, by highlighting the importance of infection prevention and environmental health throughout Puerto Rico. The annual observance, established in 1986 by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), recognizes infection prevention professionals and promotes practices that help reduce the spread of infectious diseases.
Infection prevention is especially important in Puerto Rico’s healthcare facilities, workplaces, schools, commercial buildings, and other environments where people regularly share indoor spaces. Pathogens, including bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites, can spread through contaminated surfaces and equipment, as well as through ingestion or inhalation. Effective environmental monitoring, cleaning, and disinfection practices, employee education, and other infection control measures can help identify and address potential exposure risks.
“As an environmental health and safety company, we understand the importance of helping local organizations identify conditions that could contribute to pathogen exposure,” said Harry Pena, President of Zimmetry Environmental. “During International Infection Prevention Week, we are proud to provide Puerto Rico’s healthcare facilities, businesses, and other organizations with the testing, consulting, training, and infection control expertise they need to create safer and healthier environments.”
Zimmetry Environmental’s services include environmental testing for pathogens, assessments of cleaning, sterilization, and disinfection practices, infection control training for healthcare professionals, indoor environmental quality inspections, and employee education regarding personal protective equipment (PPE) and other protective practices.
Through these services, Zimmetry helps organizations better understand environmental conditions, identify potential sources of exposure, and develop strategies to mitigate risks. Its work supports healthcare providers, building owners and managers, employers, and other organizations seeking to protect patients, employees, visitors, and building occupants.
As part of its efforts to promote greater awareness of infection prevention, Zimmetry also sponsored an educational video about International Infection Prevention Week, available here: https://youtu.be/4op0-mlaNIY
